Overview:
Breast cancer occurs when some breast cells begin to grow abnormally. It is one of the most common oncological diseases in women, although it can also affect men. Therefore, since 2006, October has been entirely activated every year to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Facts:
Breast cancer has become one of the most common types of cancer in the world in 2020. International Agency for Research on Cancer estimates that there are more than 2.26 million new cases of breast cancer and about 685,000 deaths from breast cancer worldwide, and in 2020, breast cancer ranked fifth among the most common causes of cancer death in general.
Currently, there is insufficient knowledge of the causes of breast cancer. However, risk factors that increase the possibility of infection are well known, and therefore prevention and early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of combating it. The appearance of lumps does not necessarily mean that it is cancer, it may be due to the presence of cysts, abscesses, or other benign tumors. According to studies in Europe and America, one among of eight women is at risk of developing breast cancer at some point along her life. Its treatment is effective if diagnosed early, and it may be breast removal, chemotherapy sessions, hormonal therapy, and biological therapy.
Objectives:
Educating the community, especially women, about the risk factors that increase the risk of developing breast cancer, ways to prevent it, the importance of early detection, the target group, the location of the service, and the provision of an integrated service to combat breast cancer from detection to treatment.
