World Oral Health Day

The world unites every year on March 20 to promote oral and dental health, through preventive procedures and standards, as well as awareness of the importance of maintaining oral and dental health.

  • Awareness of the importance of taking care of oral and dental hygiene.
  • Encouraging healthy, low-sugar nutrition, and combating smoking.
  • Encouraging periodic dental examinations.
  • The percentage of children with dental caries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the ages of 6 years was 96%, and 12 years was 93.7%.
  • Oral diseases are the most common non-communicable diseases worldwide.
  • Severe periodontal disease, which may lead to tooth loss, ranked eleventh in the list of preventable diseases.
  • Dental treatment costs 5% of total health expenditure, and 20% of personal expenditure.
  • Lack of attention to oral hygiene and lack of fluoride are among the most common causes of oral and dental diseases.
