IBS Awareness Month
Overview:
If you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), you are not alone, IBS is common with prevalence estimated at 10% to 15%. Yet many people remain undiagnosed and unaware that their symptoms indicate a medically recognized disorder.
Objectives:
Bringing important health messages under the spot light regarding IBS diagnosis and treatment, and improving patients’ quality of life.
Facts:
There are several tips that can be given during the event, including:
  • Cook homemade meals using fresh ingredients when you can.
  • Keep a diary of what you eat and any symptoms you get (try to avoid things that trigger your IBS).
  • Try to find ways to relax.
  • Get plenty of exercise.
  • Do not eat too quickly.
  • Do not eat lots of fatty, spicy or processed foods.
  • Do not drink lots of fizzy drinks.
