Overview:
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, celebrated around the world to raise awareness of the importance of colorectal cancer screening, as well as support colorectal cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
 
Objectives:
  • Promoting early detection of colorectal cancer and prevention awareness.
  • Raising awareness about the risk factors for colorectal cancer.
  • Support for colorectal cancer survivors and their families.
Facts:
  • Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer in the world, with approximately 1.93 million cases
  • The third most common cancer in men and the second most common cancer in women, and the second most common cause of cancer deaths worldwide, where it caused the death of nearly a million people.
  • You can reduce your risk of colorectal cancer by adopting healthy lifestyle habits, including reducing known risk factors for colorectal cancer, such as obesity, low levels of physical activity, poor diet, and smoking tobacco or alcohol.
  • Increased intake of fruits and vegetables is associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer, as is reduced consumption of meat, especially processed meat.
  • Incorporating more physical activity into your daily routine, even in small ways like walking or cycling to work or taking the stairs instead of using the elevator, can also reduce your risk of colorectal cancer.
