Overview:
The world celebrates the World Environment Day on 5 June of every year. It was first observed in 1974 in Stockholm, and ever since, it has become a global opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment and controlling global warming. This year, the World Environment focuses on “Ecosystem Restoration”, to avoid the emergence of a new pandemic. It will shed light on various kinds of restorations, such as: growing trees, greening cities, rewilding gardens, making food systems more sustainable, cleaning up trash alongside rivers and coasts, and stopping the deterioration of ecosystems at a time when the world loses enough forests to cover a football pitch every three seconds.
Objectives:
- Reimage, recreate, and restore the affected ecosystems to revive them.
- Raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment.
Official date: - Globally: 5 June 2021
- Locally: 24 Shawwal 1442H.
Theme:
