Ministry of Health Launches Its New Beta Version Portal
On Sunday, April 24th, 2011, the Ministry of Health launched its new beta version portal. The portal utilizes the latest international technical standards for design, accessibility and content distribution.

Advisor to the Minister & General Supervisor of ICT, Dr. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Yemeni, confirmed that the new portal reflects the Ministry’s efforts to provide e-transactions and e-services to users using the latest technologies.

Dr. Al Yemeni added that the new portal includes many features which are compliant with most United Nations evaluation standards for comparable government portal services.

Dr. Al Yemeni clarified that the Ministry’s portal focuses on providing the largest possible number of e-channels to promote interactive and constructive communication between the MOH and the public. Having more lines of communication with the public gives the MOH more ways to evaluate and improve its healthcare services, since users can use the portal to provide valuable feedback on a wide range of topics.

Dr. Al Yemeni encouraged the Ministry’s portal users to interact and respond to the portal’s varied content, which includes posted texts, audio and visual files and other media. He also clarified that the portal has updated a number of technical features, such as the Automated Reader Service and the ability to change the home page theme color, which  enables users with special needs (i.e. the visually and hearing impaired) to browse the content easily.
