Overview:
Lupus: A chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in various body tissues.
  • It can affect any part of the body and herein lies the danger.
  • Early diagnosis is important after symptoms appear; To prevent the impact of internal organs such as: kidneys.
  • Medical interventions and lifestyle changes can help control it.
Objectives:
  • identify lupus using the power of social media to show the world the many faces of lupus.
  • Knowledge of the rights and provision of services for people who suffer from the disease.​​
Facts:
Autoimmune diseases occur when the body's immune system attacks its own tissues. The cause is unknown, but it is believed to be related to environmental, genetic, and hormonal factors. Also, people with a genetic predisposition to lupus may develop the disease when triggers appear, which include:
  • Sun rays.
  • Some medications such as: blood pressure medications, anti-epileptic drugs and antibiotics.
  • Infection.
Risk factors:
  • Gender, as it is more common in women.
  • Age, although it affects all ages, it is most often diagnosed between the ages of 15-45 years.
  • Family history.
  • Psychological stress.
  • physical stress.
