Health Sector Governance

Vision, Mission and Goals

Vision:

Our 2020 vision is to develop an updated model of health sector governance that includes the ministry, its affiliates and sister entities, which will contribute to defining the mechanisms, responsibilities and MoH’s enabling tools to assume in general its role as legislator and regulator of the health sector. This will result in greater transparency, responsibility and sustainability.

There was a need to develop a model for health sector governance that would allow the Ministry to supervise, regulate and control policies and mechanisms that are in line with the best international standards, which in turn would fulfill the Ministry's objectives to ensure high-quality services driven by transparent and sustainable mechanisms.

Mission:
The health hector governance Initiative aims to "develop an updated model for healthcare sector governance, including the Ministry of Health, its affiliates and sister entities, in order to ensure supervision, regulation, health policies and continuous monitoring of their implementation", by reviewing the existing health services regulations; thus, designing an updated governance model for the healthcare sector based on global best practices.

Goals:
This is expected to result in the following results:
  • Enhanced quality and safety standards through improved systems.
  • Improved level of transparency and accountability mechanisms in the delivery of health care.
  • Improved coordination among all health sectors.
