British Foreign Secretary Praises Saudi Role in Patient Safety
02 March 2019

British Foreign Secretary and former health secretary, Mr. Jeremy Hunt has praised the great role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of patient safety. He thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for patronizing the 4th Global Summit on Patient Safety, and the Health Minister for the efforts exerted by his ministry to organize the summit.

In a press statement on the fringes of the summit launched today in Jeddah, he said, "I am so proud to be here with my friend Dr. Abdulelah Hawsawi, a pioneer in patient safety. We know that every year we lose millions of lives worldwide as a result of medical errors. However, the shocking truth is that we don't learn from these errors, because we don't correct the culture and the course in this field".

"We gather here today in Saudi Arabia, including world health stakeholders, to find solutions, and a ministerial summit will be held every year to discuss the issue. This summit is extraordinary because Saudi Arabia leads patient safety movement in the world, in addition to the distinctive role by the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC)" he adds.

He said this summit has achieved a record in terms of the number of world participants to realize the objectives in the patient safety.
