A medical team at the Vascular Surgery Department at King Abdullah Medical City in the Holy Capital succeeded in rescuing a patient who was suffering from an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Makkah Healthcare Cluster declared that the patient was received from outside the region as a rescue case. The medical examinations and CT scans revealed a large and complex aneurysm in the abdominal aorta, so that the medical team decided to subject the patient to urgent medical intervention, they set an appropriate plan to deal with the situation, and to restore the artery, while maintaining the integrity of the renal artery perfusion in addition to providing the necessary equipment needed for such cases. All that was performed through an interventional catheter without surgery, and the operation was crowned with success, praise be to Allah.
It is noteworthy that the number of cardiac surgeries at King Abdullah Medical City in the Holy Capital amounted to 86 operations, and 803 cardiac catheterization operations during the period from 1st to 15th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1443 AH.
