King Fahd Hospital-Al-Hofuf Accredited for Response to Nuclear/Radiological Incidents

King Fahd Hospital-Al-Hofuf has obtained the accreditation of the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by Preventive Health Agency, as a reference hospital for medical response to nuclear and radiological incidents. This comes as part of MOH’s project to prepare reference hospitals for medical response to nuclear and radiological emergencies.


According to Al-Ahsa Health Cluster, this accreditation came after equipping the hospital, enhancing its relevant departments with basic supplies, forming specialized teams to respond to all potential accidents, and training them on methods of dealing with such incidents, in addition to coordinating efforts with all concerned authorities to implement the necessary emergency response measures.

It is worth mentioning that this project, adopted by MOH as one of the new national projects in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, aims at applying the principles and standards of protection against radiation risks in the proper and accurate manner; to control accidents involving radioactive materials, which may occur as a result of the increasing use of nuclear technologies in all industrial, medical, and research fields. The project features a comprehensive contingency plan for dealing with any nuclear or radiological accidents, May Allah forbid, as well as mitigating their impacts on humans and
