Jeddah: 700 Diagnostic and Therapeutic GI Endoscopies Conducted at King Abdullah Medical Complex

According to Jeddah Health Affairs, King Abdullah Medical Complex- Jeddah, during the first half of the current year, has performed 700 upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopies (diagnostic and therapeutic). 

It indicated that these endoscopies varied between diagnostic and therapeutic for routine and emergency cases and some advanced cases referred from other public hospitals affiliated to MOH’s health system in Jeddah governorate. The interventional procedures include injecting varicose veins, injecting gastric varices, removing tumors and polyps from upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract, inserting feeding tube through the stomach or small intestine, inserting and removing esophageal stents and inserting and removing gastric balloon.
  
It is worth mentioning that the gastrointestinal endoscopy department is one of the medical departments specialized in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, in addition to dealing with the duodenal ulcers and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. The center is enhanced with highly qualified and experienced medical, technical and nursing staff, as well as state-of-the-art medical devices that contributed to treating many illnesses.
