Governor of Al-Ahsa Province His Highness Prince Badr bin Muhammed bin Galawi al Saud discussed with the Minister of Health, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah the health services in the province and the health projects currently under implementation.

During a meeting held today (Wednesday) at his office, Prince Badr underlined the importance of developing the health services provided to citizens, aspiring to achieve the best healthcare in line with our wise government's support to the health sector. He also praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to improve the health services.

For his part, Dr. Al-Rabiah expressed his thanks for warm reception and lauded the Prince's directives and follow-up on everything associating with the health of the province's citizens.  Also, a number of initiatives and achievements realized by Al-Ahsa Health Affairs recently were presented during the meeting.

On the other hand, Al-Rabiah has inaugurated ICU expansion and development projects at each of King Fahad Hospital and Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Al-Ahsa, after completing all development stages and achieving fully equipped and integrated ICU units that are commensurate with the infection control requirements. He was briefed on cutting-edge equipment of the ICU with a 20-bed capacity bringing the operational capacity in the hospital to 76 beds, in addition to 10 beds at Prince Sultan Center and a total of 31 ICU beds. Also, he was briefed on infrastructure development project of King Fahad Hospital in Hafoof. Then, he inaugurated AL-Jabr Kidney Center expansion project which added 35 dialysis chairs, bringing the new capacity to 105 chairs. He also visited Abdulaziz bin Suleiman Al-Afaliq Cancer Early Detection Center and checked on its operation stages.

"MOH consistently seeks to develop and improve all health services, following the directives of our righteous leadership, and in line with MOH's interest in capitalizing on the constant support to health sector rendered by the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince - May Allah protect them. This will positively develop health services, provide citizens with health care and meet their health needs." stressed Dr. Al Rabiah.

These steps come in line with MOH's efforts to achieve one of its objectives in the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, in terms of improving the health care provided before hospitalization and at emergency and ICU departments of main hospitals. Also, this goal is related to one of the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, in terms of improving the quality of both preventive and therapeutic healthcare services.
