The Ministry of Health (MOH) revealed that Prince Mohammad bin Nasser Hospital (PMNH) in Jazan conducted 924 heart surgeries, including 869 cardiac catheterizations, over the last year.
“As part of the specialized and qualitative services provided by the hospital, 1,659 chemotherapy cases are currently receiving treatment at Oncology Section (at a rate of 40 cases per month), and the patients recorded at the Chemotherapy Section amounted to 2,482 cases so far,” the MOH pointed out.
Furthermore, it highlighted that the cases referred outside Jazan have recorded a remarkable decline by the end of 1437H, whereas the number of patients who received treatment within the region increased in each of the following specialties: cardiology, ophthalmology, oncology, blood vessels, and neurosurgery, and kidney and liver transplant.
The MOH underlined that change rate in the number of ophthalmology cases amounted to 43% (with a total 1208 cases) compared to last year, and it is working to reduce rates of cases referred outside the region, by means of providing all medical specialties, attracting talented health practitioners, working to conduct retina and cornea operations, and introducing pediatric cardiac services, in accordance with a developmental plan of action that targets all health facilities in Jazan.
