Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, His Excellency the Vice Minister of Health, Mr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Doweila’ has inaugurated, today morning, the Saudi Conference for Accident Injuries. He highlighted that Accident and Emergency Medicine (A&EM) targets a category which is in an urgent need of help and health care, in terms of saving the souls and bodies of the injured people from serious damages. During the conference, he underlined that traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among youth in the Kingdom, claiming 17 lives daily.
Furthermore, Al-Doweila’ pointed out that he is absolutely certain that the deliberations of the conference, its reviewed expertise and experiences and its final recommendations will have an active impact in raising the medical sector efficiency to counter these impending threats and respond to them effectively. He also underlined that whoever is interested in this vital medical domain will find the Ministry of Health (MOH) an active partner which supports their efforts and is keen on all that is empowering them.
The MOH, he said, is aware of the magnitude of responsibility it shouldered to achieve the aspirations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May Allah protect him, about developing the health sector and maintaining the health of every one living in our beloved country. Owing to his gracious support, several pioneering initiative are launched, with a view to raise the standard of Saudi health sector, in terms of its human resources at the first place and then its facilities and equipment.
"There is no doubt that those employees working in the field of accident and emergency and the relevant health facilities will have the priority in these initiatives", he added.
Within the same vein, Al-Doweila’ revealed that MOH has a new strategy, aiming at supporting the health sector in our country through prevention perspective; in an endeavor to help our society members enjoy a healthy lifestyle by means of balanced diet and proper physical activities. He added that the strategy aims at providing the society with the best means of prevention and vaccinations, so as to prevent the disease before its occurrence, given that health awareness in this regard is the main element of success in this trend.
Besides, Al-Doweila’ lauded the efforts exerted by King Fahad Hospital (KFH) in Jeddah in organizing this conference, and those who supported the conference and contributed to its preparation. It didn’t escape his notice to extent the greetings and appreciation of the Minister of Health to all of them.
It is noteworthy that the conference shed light on different types of accidents and how to deal with them in the pre-hospital phase, in addition to the patient rehabilitation phase. Moreover, the conference discussed 40 scientific papers, delivered by a number of emergency physicians from Canada and Gulf States, through specialized workshops on accident cases, in addition to an accompanying exhibition on accident injuries. The conference will also discuss the impact of accidents and their triggered injuries and how to deal with them by all medical specialties concerned with treatment of accident injuries, based on scientific studies and modern clinical technology in this respect.
