Human Rights Commission (HRC) has expressed its satisfaction with the procedures taken by the Ministry of Health (MOH) with regard to the emergence of a number of novel Coronavirus cases, and described these actions as reassuring.
Moreover, HRC has confirmed that the health sectors are witnessing a significant improvement, due to the interest of governors, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Prime Minister, May Allah protect them.
These words came during the meeting of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, held recently with the Deputy Chairman of the Saudi HRC, Dr. Zaid Bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Hussein, in the presence of a number of HRC members and MOH officials. The HRC Delegation was briefed on the MOH efforts in combating the Coronavirus, the preventive plan, the precautionary measures undertaken in this regard and the international cooperation with the international organizations to deal with this novel virus.
In his statement after the meeting, Dr. Al-Hussein has pointed out that the delegation's visit to MOH has been scheduled for a long time, and the HRC is keen to communicate with all parties to verify fulfilling these rights, each in their respective fields, and to ensure that the right of enjoying health is multi-faceted.
In the same vein, Dr. Al- Hussein kept on adding, “The direct dialogue with officials at any ministry has very high positive results. We rushed to visit MOH because of the health conditions put forward by the various mass media, so we met with the Minister and his fellow officials to understand a lot of things and take the information from its direct sources. Thus, we have the ability to balance between what we read, and what we hear on one hand and what has been discussed with MOH officials on the other hand. Therefore, it was a very productive visit, and will help us to become aware of the possible ways by which further citizens’ rights can be fulfilled.”
Dr. Al-Hussein lauded the rapid response of the Minister of Health and his colleagues with regard to the HRC notices on some hospitals throughout a number of Kingdom’s regions.
Finally, Dr. Al-Hussein has underscored the MOH steps in promoting the rights concept through the establishment of specialized departments for patients and staff’s rights, as well as raising the slogan: “Patient First”. Furthermore, these actions are great steps, which promote the enthusiasm of the health domain staff and emphasize the active role of MOH. It is noteworthy that HRC jointly worked with MOH and lauded this good work.
