Dr. Al-Rabeeah Commends the Educational and Training Program of the Saudi Diploma for Mass Gathering Medicine
09 October 2012
His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, has commended the educational and training program of the Saudi Diploma for Mass Gathering and Disaster Medicine, which has been adopted as one of the recommendations of the Mass Gathering Medicine formerly organized by the Ministry of Health two years ago under the gracious auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Dr. Al-Rabeeah made this announcement while receiving the first batch of the program graduates.

He pointed out that this program comes in line with the accreditation of the Ministry of Health, represented by the Public Health General Agency, by the World Health Organization (WHO), to be an accredited center working in cooperation with WHO in the field of Mass Gathering and Disaster Medicine.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah prompted all health sectors to cooperate with the officials of this program (both physicians and trainees), considering the pivotal importance of this program and its promising potential in improving the Ministry's medical level during the Hajj season and the similar occasions. It goes without saying that the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia is globally recognized as one of the leading countries in this domain. It didn't escape his notice, however, to underscore the importance of providing all the necessary resources for achieving the sought-after objectives of such a promising program.

For his part, the head of the program's scientific committee, Dr. Adnan Al-Bar, mentioned that His Excellency the Minister of Health listened to a summary of the performance of the training program over the past six months, and the plan dedicated to trainees' field participation during this year's Hajj season. He further reiterated that the Kingdom is the world's leading country in this field; a rank the Kingdom gained through its accumulative experience piled up over years. The period of study at the Saudi Diploma for Mass Gathering and Disaster Medicine is one complete training year, accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS).

Concluding his statement, Dr. Al-Bar thanked His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, for his hospitality, and his unstinting support of the program. This will have its positive effects on the potential of the program, this bringing success to this program, and preserving the Kingdom's fame as the world's pioneer in this domain.
