The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Adbulllah Al-Mane has launched recently the electronic follow up program for utilizing current technology in confirming delivery of medical treatment to the homes of patients suffering from kidney failure and receiving peritoneal dialysis.
The MOH Medical Supply Director General Dr. Khalid bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Hussain said the program, with its yearly cost of SR77,200,000, targets 772 patients in the year 2009.
According to Dr. Al-Hussain, the program verifies the patient, sends a copy of his subscription to the pharmaceutical company, and makes sure that delivery has been accomplished. "The whole procedure is dealt with electronically, thus providing the opportunity of concentrating on the patient", he said.
He said the program, through applying the principle of "we reach you wherever you are", is intended to ensure patient convenience, confirm full delivery of materials, and reduce discrepancies between subscriptions, invoices, and delivery.
