MOH values MOH/WHO coordination
15 December 2008
MOH has worked in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) for ensuring safety of pilgrims during this year's Hajj, said MOH official spokesman Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Marghalani. "Our cooperation in this regard has continued for so long a time", he said.

He said close cooperation and coordination between MOH and international health organizations has been underway for exploring the latest developments in the epidemiology of diseases.

According to Al-Marghalani, the cooperation between MOH and WHO, through WHO Eastern Mediterranean Office, is of unique nature.

He said WHO provides MOH with the latest information on contagious diseases around the world, in addition to consular help for dealing with the epidemics occurring in the countries from which pilgrims arrive.

"MOH utilizes the information provided by WHO and other international health organizations for setting the health requirements to be observed by pilgrims prior to their arrival to the Kingdom", he said. "MOH appreciates the support of KSA embassies and representatives around the world as well as the help provided by the authorities in the countries of origin", he added.
