29 December 2008
The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane is to pay an inspection visit today Saturday to the health facilities in Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah. The visit schedule includes a visit to the governor of Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majid, a meeting with the members of Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah Municipality, and following up the health projects in the province, said MOH official spokesman Dr. Khalid Al-Marghalani.

He said the visit comes this year following classification of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah as a Hajj area, a status that enhanced mobilization and training of 4009 physicians, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff for serving the pilgrims and visitors of the prophet's mosque. "The visit is intended for reviewing work progress at the health centers of the central region around the holy mosque, including Bab Jibreel, Al-Safia, Bab Al-Salam and Bab Al-Mjeedi health centers as well as Al-Ansar and King Fahad Hospitals", he said.

In the same context, the MOH Director General of Health Affairs in Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah, Dr. Oqail bin Jam'an Al-Ghamdi said MOH has been keen to utilize its best medical and technical capabilities for health care provision to pilgrims in Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah. He said the health plan formulated by MOH in this regard provides an integrated system of health services, through effective therapeutic, preventive, and first aid programs.

According to Dr. Al-Ghamdi, 4 seasonal health centers provide their services in the central region surrounding the prophet's mosque, in addition to 10 hospitals and 19 health centers. "This year, the seasonal health centers in the central region have been equipped with the best therapeutic and preventive capabilities, together with continuation of the same pharmaceutical policy followed during the last Hajj season", he said.

He said the health plan has allocated a special clinic for the guests of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, 4 health surveillance centers at Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz airport halls, a permanent health center at the airport's international hall, and a health surveillance center at the Yanbu marine port.

Elaborating on the health services along the highways leading to and from Al-Madinah Al-Muniawarah, Dr. Al-Ghamdi said such health coverage has included the Hijra highway from Al- Al-Madinah to Makkah Al-Mukarramah, in addition to other highways such as Al-Qaseem, Tabuk, and Yanbu highways.
