MOH granted ISO certificate

The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane has received at his office yesterday the ISO 2000:9001 certificate, which has been awarded to the MOH Directorate for Medical Supply by the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO). SASO president Nabil Al-Mulla handovered the certificate to the Minister of Health in presence of the president of the Turkish Standards Organization.
 
"The certificate reflects the efforts exerted by our staff in the Directorate of Medical Supply and will encourage them for more efforts", said Dr. Al-Mane. "They have considered the quality factor as a crucial necessity for providing the best services needed by citizens".
 
The MOH Directorate for Medical Supply is the first governmental body to be granted the ISO certificate in the Kingdom. It directs its efforts towards the purpose of providing, organizing, monitoring, storing, and distributing medicines, medical supplies, as well as the requirements of MOH labs and blood banks.
 
According to Dr. Al-Mane the MOH Directorate of Medical Supply is responsible of promoting the level of performance in the field of medical supply. It sets the plans for preparing medical supplies for use of all MOH departments throughout the Kingdom. "About 20,000 medical items are under its control with a total budget of three billion Saudi Riyals", he said. "It strives to provide the best quality of medical and medicinal services for enabling our facilities to cope with the huge developments witnessed within the area of health services at all preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and medicinal levels".
 
On his part, the Director General of Medical Supply Dr. Khalid Al-Husain said his staff has exerted great efforts for acquiring the ISO certificate. "They have worked hard for achieving the quality objectives through adopting continuous improvement as a work target", he said.
