15 July 2007
The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane directed the MOH Undersecretary for Therapeutic Medicine Dr. Khalid Al-Zahrani, the MOH Director General of Projects and Maintenance Eng. Mohammed Al-Qahtani, and the MOH Maintenance Manager Eng. Ali Al-Shahri to inspect the situation at King Fahad Hospital in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. Dr. Khalid Al-Zahrani said King Fahad Hospital in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah is undergoing intense rehabilitation works covering all hospital establishments. Attributing the power cut at the hospital to circuit breakers, Al-Zaharani said the problem of circuit breakers shall be solved and power returned to the hospital within the coming few days, confirming works are followed by the Minister of Health himself.

The MOH Director General of Projects and Maintenance Eng. Mohammed Al-Qahtani said some spare parts for the circuit breakers have been brought from Jazan Health Affairs and power is gradually returning to the hospital as the breakers are reinstalled.

The Director General of Health Affairs in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Dr. Khalid Yassin said the power cut has been due to uncontrollable reasons. "The hospital inpatients were smoothly removed to other government and private hospitals for securing their safety", he said. "The hospital evacuation works started by the intensive care patients, followed by cardiac patients, then the other patients".

King Fahad Hospital Manager Dr. Mutwakil Hajaj said the death case that occurred at the hospital has not been due to the evacuation works. The patient has been brought to the hospital suffering a severe condition of heart failure. He has been admitted to the hospital emergency for first aids but died due to heart attack, may his soul rest in peace.

Dr. Al-Zahrani made a tour around the hospital, including the inpatients sections and electric generators. He held a meeting with the officials at Al-Madinah Health Affairs and King Fahad Hospital, where they have been urged to exert utmost efforts for finalizing the power cut issue.
