Health Facilities in Makkah and Madinah Receive Over 16.000 Pilgrims in the Course of One Day

   The Ministry of Health has announced that 16.170 pilgrims have frequented the health facilities of Makkah and Madinah on 6/12/1432H (2/11/2011). The hospitals provided the needed curative services for 4.404 pilgrims (3.880 at the hospitals of Makkah, and 524 at the hospitals of Madinah), whereas 11.766 pilgrims were offered primary healthcare services provided at health centers on that day (9.071 at the health centers of Makkah and 2.695 at Madinah).
A press release issued by the Ministry shows that a number of 3.629 patients received the required healthcare service at outpatient clinics, whereas 775 patients were offered ambulatory services.
The release shows also that the bed occupancy rate on that day amounted to 77.1% in the hospitals of Makkah, and 61% in Madinah. Also, a number of 650 pilgrims were hosted as inpatients, out of which 471 patients were at the hospitals of Makkah, and 179 patients at the hospitals of Madinah.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health has prepared 24 hospitals for the current Hajj season, out of which 3 hospitals are in Arafat, 4 hospitals in Mena, 7 hospitals in Makkah and 9 hospitals in Madinah. Also, a number of 4.000 beds have been provided, in addition to 450 intensive care beds and 500 emergency beds. Besides, 141 health centers have been operated, to be added to the 5 health centers based inside the Sanctuary (Haram) of Makkah. In addition, 95 small ambulances and 80 highly equipped big ones have been provided.
