The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced implementation of the beta version of a cutting-edge E-Health System at three hospitals (Yanbu General Hospital, Al- Bukayriyah General Hospital, and Maternity and Children Hospital-Al-Kharj), to compare them according to MOH specific criteria.
According to MOH, this E-Health System will be implemented across all hospitals in the Kingdom over a number of phases. “The System seeks to achieve MOH’s Strategy, as part of the National Transformation Program 2020 and as one of the programs to realize the Saudi Vision 2030, in terms of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare sector through information technology and digital transformation”, stated MOH. It added that the implementation of such an integrated e-health system for patients will contribute to easily saving and accessing data, reducing medical errors, and ensuring that appropriate health services will be provided to patients by benefiting from resources and reducing their wastes. Also, MOH pointed out that this system will be applied across all medical departments of hospitals, such as reception, emergency, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and others.
It is worth mentioning that MOH has recently implemented the E-Health Initiative, as part of its 40 initiatives within the NTP 202. Through this initiative, MOH seeks to improve the efficiency of health care sector by adopting the information technology and digital transformation to provide 70% of the Kingdom’s population with standardized e-health records by 2020.
