14 January 2018
A medical team at Maternity and Children Hospital-Arar has successfully conducted a 2-hour surgery for a 5-day-old baby suffering from complications and health problems after birth. After due medical examinations and tests, he was diagnosed with a left- sided diaphragmatic hernia. By Allah’s Grace, the hernia was repaired under general anesthesia. After the surgery, the baby was placed on a ventilator for three days. Then, he was separated from it in a stable condition.

It is noted that the Northern Borders Health Affairs provides health services to citizens through 11 hospitals (with a 1,410-bed capacity) and 48 healthcare centers.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program «Adaa’», which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the strategic objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020 towards achieving the Saudi Vision 2030. The program covers 70 main hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
