MOH Organizes the Annual Forum of Infection Prevention and Control

​Under the patronage of His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Health, Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih, the Ministry of Health (MOH) concluded the “Annual Forum of Infection Prevention and Control”, in the presence of healthcare leaders from the government and private sectors, health practitioners, experts, and specialists locally and internationally. This comes as part of its endeavors to facilitate access to healthcare services and develop them, and to achieve the goals of the health sector transformation program to reach a vibrant society and a comprehensive, effective, and integrated health system, based on the health of the individual and society, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.The forum aimed at enhancing the Kingdom’s international contribution in the field of health risk prevention and infection control to achieve the highest levels of health preparedness to confront risks, besides enhancing infection prevention and control, and empowering and developing competencies in the health sector by applying infection control standards in health facilities. It also aimed at strengthening the efforts of national initiatives to prevent infection and reduce negative aspects, thus contributing to enhancing the prevention of health risks and achieving the highest levels of health preparedness, within the transformation of the health sector and in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.The forum witnessed the honoring of public and private hospitals that contributed to national projects related to reducing Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), which achieved a reduction rate of up to 45% of infections of all types. Hospitals that won national competitions related to those projects were also honored.The forum’s activities included the launch of 3 national projects for the coming years, namely a project to reduce cardiac surgeries associated infections, in addition to a project to prevent infections associated with the Candida auris microbe, and a project that contributes to supporting transformation in the health sector and infection control departments in the health affairs directorates.It is noted that the forum reflects the positive impact of the transformation of the health sector in enhancing the prevention of health risks and achieving the highest levels of health preparedness to confront infection. Its activities also included many specialized lectures and workshops, with the participation of local and international speakers.
