MOH Activates “Mawid” and “Ehalti” Programs in Home Healthcare

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has activated “Mawid” Service and the referral program “Ehalti” in all home healthcare departments in hospitals and regions, with the aim of facilitating easy access to home healthcare beneficiaries through the two systems. In accordance with the provisions set by MOH, patients to be accepted in this service include inpatients, non-admitted patients (emergencies, primary healthcare centers patients, Alzheimer patients and comprehensive rehabilitation patients). The other provisions include availability of a patient escort, the distance between the healthcare department and patient’s home should not be more than 70 km and the patient or a member of his family should put his signature to approve the provision of the home healthcare service. 
 
According to MOH, until the mid of the current year, it has conducted 72,330 home visits and 62,529 field visits, served 44,781 patients in 22 regions and governorates, bringing the total number of registered patients to 4,351. In addition, the number of hospitals and healthcare centers serving the home care patients amounted to 242 and the medical teams amounted to 500. 

It added that the services provided for the home healthcare patients include rehabilitation, home physiotherapy, home respiratory care, home nursing care, home social services, medical care, home nutrition services, virtual home healthcare services, home mental healthcare, as well as other supportive services, and medication management. 

It is noteworthy that MOH has started providing the home healthcare services nearly 14 years ago, including preventive, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative services.
