According to Jouf Health affairs, during the first three months since its inauguration, the Oncology Center of King Abdul Aziz Hospital has served 40 inpatients and treated them with chemotherapy and palliative medicine.
The first patient to receive a comprehensive treatment plan, developed by the center's medical team, was a 65-year old woman with bone marrow cancer. The first chemotherapy dose was given to her by the team yesterday. The team includes doctors, pharmacists and nursing staff. The patient was discharged from the center without any complications with further weekly follow-up to get the remaining doses.
It is noteworthy that the center features 22 inpatient rooms, a chemotherapy preparation unit, a chemotherapy treatment unit, and a family room. Also, the hospital's nuclear medicine department has been activated and operated in conjunction with the launch of the center.
