His Excellency the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention "Weqaya", Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, has launched the public health system, which is supervised by the center. This step comes in line with the Ministry of Health's (MOH) initiatives to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030 and to realize a vital community and healthy life.
Al-Rabiah and a number of MOH's officials have watched a presentation on the project and work mechanisms. The system aims at outlining public health priorities and public needs in accordance with international health regulations, in order to promote international cooperation in the public health field, as well as unifying efforts among ministries and agencies to achieve public health objectives in the Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that the system is designed to protect, encourage and preserve the health of individuals and families, as well as providing a framework for legal governance and assigning different roles and responsibilities for stakeholders. This project will be implemented in three stages, first: to study the current systems and regulations in the Kingdom, second: to develop a detailed plan for the system, and third: to develop the public health system and its executive regulations.
