22 October 2017
Under the theme (Infection Prevention is Everyone's Responsibility), the Ministry of Health - MOH - takes part if the events of the International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) from 15 to 21 October 2017. In this regard, MOH has held several events in malls, schools, public places and universities, featuring a series of programs on infection, communication, prevention, in addition to awareness-raising messages to all groups.

"Infection prevention measures seek to protect individuals from communicable diseases, as health facilities-related infections are one the big challenges faced by the health sector." MOH stresses. According to some studies, such infections affect patients, visitors and health professionals. Also, communicable diseases pose a great burden on health institutions, in terms of high treatment cost, as well as increased mortality rate.

Current communicable diseases result from unhealthy and unsafe medical practices in health facilities, in addition to lack of awareness by some individuals as to taking the needed health precautions.

Likewise, MOH is achieving steady progress in infection prevention across all sectors, which contributes - by Allah's Will - to saving people's lives, and ensures the safety of patients and healthcare providers through adopting the right ways of infection prevention.
