17 October 2017
A medical team of King Faisal Medical Complex - Taif has successfully restored the stomach of a 6 months old baby back to normal after having hiatal hernia. The baby was taken to the children hospital after suffering from cough and shortness of breath. Following due radiology and tests, he was diagnosed with hiatal hernia, so he was referred to King Faisal Medical Complex - Taif. There, he had a CT scan, which showed his hiatal hernia with his stomach sliding up into the chest. The baby had a laparoscopic surgery through two small holes. His diaphragm was constructed back to normal position. Thank Allah the baby has recovered without complications.

King Faisal Medical Complex - Taif features a 500-bed capacity. Last year, the Complex's outpatient clinics served over 99 thousand outpatients, while more than 240 thousand patients were received by its emergency, and 300+ patients by the hospital.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 towards achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
