Successful Resection of Lower Jaw Myxoma for a Patient in her 20s
08 August 2017
According to Jeddah Health Affairs, a team of doctors lead by the head of the Maxillofacial Surgery Department at King Fahd Hospital has successfully resected a lower jaw myxoma for a patient in her 20s. For three years, the patient has suffered from a jaw tumor. After due tests and jaw biopsy, the patient was diagnosed with a benign myxoma. This type of a late stage tumor requires complete resection with safe radius to prevent recurrence. Then a metal plate was settled. After ensuring that the rest of jaw is tumor-free, the patient will need a ridge reconstruction for implant placement to fix prosthodontics.
