The number of training programs carried out by King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah has amounted to 11 programs, which are accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS), and the number of trainees has amounted to 90 fe/males. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has pointed out that the SCHS, in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), has accredited the Nursing Higher Diploma (Wound Management & Tissue Viability) at KAMC.
Furthermore, the SCHS has started the development and accreditation of healthcare diploma programs in the fields of nursing and medical assistant professions, in addition to the accreditation of four specialist nursing diploma programs, which provide the opportunity for nursing graduates to specialize in fields, selected in accordance with the labor market needs, namely: the critical care, the cardiac care, oncology, wound management, and tissue viability.
It went on adding that two batches of the Saudi specialist nursing have been graduated, as part of the critical care, cardiac care, and oncology programs. Besides, it is expected that the third batch of 41 fe/males trainees is about to finish its year- long training soon, Allah Willing.
It is worth mentioning that seven programs have been accredited for the medical assistant professions to supplement the labor market with the rare medical specialties (i.e. cardiac ischemia, medical coding, and diagnostic cardiac radiology); through which 50 trainees are receiving training and expected to be graduated in the month of Al-Muharram next year.
