Eng. Faqih Heads MOH Delegation to the Meetings of WHO's General Assembly

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Health (MOH), is due to participate in the meetings of the 67th session of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) General Assembly, which started today and will continue till 24th May, in Geneva, Switzerland. The Saudi delegation is headed by His Excellency the Acting Minister of Health, Eng. Adel bin Muhammad Faqih.
 
The meeting will address a number of topics, including ways to upgrade the worldwide organization, as well as developing a strategy for the prevention, control and surveillance of tuberculosis at the international level, drawing up the WHO’s work plan on vaccines, and controlling non-communicable diseases and hepatitis.
 
Within the same vein, the WHO Assembly will discuss the UN development goals in the health domain for the post-2015 period, as well as the issue of antibiotic-resistant microbes, the draft work plan on the good health of newborns and elderly people, in addition to the issue of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona virus (MERS-CoV), which was enrolled under the new issues.
 
Furthermore, the Kingdom will participate in the consultative meeting of GCC Health Ministers to coordinate the situations, on the sidelines of the WHO Assembly meeting, which will be held next Wednesday. Besides, Eng. Faqih will participate tomorrow in the meeting of Health Ministers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
