Ministry of Health Continues Providing Medical Services In Jeddah

​Ministry of Health continued providing first aid, curative and preventive health services for Jeddah's flood victims through sending 30 highly equipped medical field teams to affected areas and shelter homes. 

Ministry's spokesman stated that the Ministry has set 10 mental health teams to provide psychosocial support to those who are affected by the floods in order to provide them with the needed treatment and medicine. Mental health teams are permitted to reach the affected areas in accordance with Civil Defense's emergency plan and helped 72 families in AL Hamra's shelter homes, 70 in Al Naseem and AL Sulaimaniah, 82 in Prince Meta'b Rd, 11 in Hira St and 18 in King Fahd Rd.       
 
Dr. Al Mergelani clarified that the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah supervised the implementing of Health Affairs emergency plan as well as activating joint operations and emergency room where a state of emergency was declared in all governmental and private health facilities, works 24/7, in Jeddah in order to be able to accept all kind of cases. Dr. Al Mergelani pointed out that 115 were injured where 91 were cured and 10 died (2 Saudis and 8 residents).    
He also added that the Ministry has equipped 15 preventive medical teams to visit affected areas in order to take the needed preventive procedures such as taking samples of floods water from affected homes and public places to test their safety.
 
Moreover, Dr. Al Mergelani clarified that Emergency Department in Jeddah's Health Facilities sent medical field teams to areas located by the Civil Defense to evacuate people from such places. Needed injections where given to paramedics and injured people, available beds and blood units at concerned hospitals are computed every 12 hours and a medical supply vehicle where equipped for emergencies interventions in the needed areas.  
He also added that a number of deceased patients were evacuated from some affected private hospitals to the Ministry's hospitals.
Dr. Al Mergelani assured that all needed medical requirements such as medicine, medical equipment and blood units are available at once.
