Al-Mane heads HSC meeting
24 December 2008
In presence of the Saudi Red Crescent Society (SRCS) president HRH Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Health Services Council (HSC) headed yesterday an HSC meeting attended by all HSC members, including university hospitals and King Faisal Specialized Hospital. Riyadh Region's Director General of Health Affairs and MOH Director General of Emergency also attended the meeting.

Al-Mane opened the meeting by welcoming the SRCS president and appreciating SRCS contributions in the efforts directed towards providing humanitarian assistance during catastrophes.

The meeting discussed the ways for improving emergency services and accepting emergency cases in hospitals.

The SRCS president confirmed the importance of handling the emergencies brought to hospitals by SRCS teams, since a strict directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques requires handling of all emergencies brought to all government and private hospitals.

The SRCS president expressed his hope that government and private hospitals must understand the vitality of not rejecting the emergencies brought by SRCS teams. "The citizen blames SRCS teams in such cases and not the hospitals", he said.

On his part, the coordinator of HSC works Dr. Osman A. Al-Rabia said a former decree taken by His Highness the Minister of Health requires transference of emergencies to private hospitals in case of unavailability of beds in government hospitals.
