The Ministry of Health issued a circulation to MOH specialized hospitals and health affairs whereby they have been ordered to refrain from using all forms of Viracept 250mg tablets and powder. Attributing the decision to pollution affecting the active substance in the drug, the circulation also ordered withdrawal of the preparation from local markets and relative health sectors. It has also been denoted in the circulation that the manufacturing company shall compensate relative bodies for withdrawn quantities.
The MOH Undersecretary for Executive Affairs Dr. Mansour Al-Hawasi recommended in his urgent circulation the relative MOH bodies to follow up the works of halting usage and withdrawal of the medicine from the markets in coordination with the manufacturing company or its agent in the Kingdom. They were also requested to follow up the works of securing the alternative for withdrawn quantities.
