03 December 2007
MOH has secured more than 13000 units of blood products for the hospitals of the sacred shrines and blood banks in Mekkah Al-Mukarramah, said the MOH Assistant Undersecretary for Labs and Blood Banks Mr. Abdullah bin Zamil Al-Dirais. He said the supply has been secured in coordination with the central blood bank in Mekkah Al-Mukarramah, adding that the campaigns for blood donations have been under way since the end of Shawal 1428.

He said the labs of the hospitals in Mekkah Al-Mukarramah, as well as 13 other biochemical labs, have been subject to quality tests. Bus drivers transferring pilgrims have also been subjected to checkups for detecting drugs and coordination made with specialized authorities for dealing with positive cases.

Epidemics and fevers surveillance programs have been carried out through viral checkups and public health programs for securing the safety of foods, drugs, and water in the sacred shrines, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Jeddah, and Al-Medinah Al-Manawarah, he said.
