Al-Mane Heads Delegation to GCC Health Ministers Meeting

The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad Al-Mane shall head a KSA delegation to the 62nd conference of the GCC ministers of health which will be held in Kuwait on Tuesday and Wednesday 4-5 Muharram 1428, corresponding to 23-24 Jan, 2007 at the start of the GCC 32nd term. The conference shall discuss a detailed report on the activities and achievements of its last term, evaluate follow up of the last decisions and recommendations, and look into the latest scientific developments for improving health services in the member countries.
 
Dr. Khalid Marghlani, official speaker of the Ministry of Health, said the conference agenda comprises a number of vital issues, including the International-Gulf Health Survey and combating of non contagious diseases.
 
He added the conference will also discuss the ways of improving primary health care services in the member countries as well as combating smoking and application of the Gulf plan in this regard. A number of other issues shall also be discussed including the foreign labour, the timetable and budget of establishing the Nursing Specialties Council in the GCC countries, and ensuring malaria free Arabic Peninsula.
 
The agenda also includes the issues of drugs and medical equipment, the requirement of the Republic of Iraq to be included in the unified purchasing program, and the other financial issues.
